Understanding that security/safety is an ongoing process best done with experienced partners is a critical first step for educational leadership. Educators need to be free to focus on educating our future leaders.
Involving the internal/external stakeholders of your entire school community (administrator's, teachers, mental health professionals, coaches, students, parents, support personnel, school resource officers, neighbors, family, security/safety, etc.,) to understand security/safety is everyone's responsibility and must be part of your culture is the next most critical understanding.
Bringing key community partners together in a well-constructed plan to address behavioral and security/safety risk or threats as part of an ongoing process of information/intelligence gathering, analysis, investigation, assessment, and management is best done with experts who can help!
