Steve spent over 33 years in federal law enforcement, beginning with the United States Secret Service (USSS) in San Francisco in 1987. While with the USSS Steve served as a Special Agent working in the areas of protection for the President and Vice President of the United States of America along with other high-level government officials, presidential candidates, families, and foreign heads of state. Steve was also responsible for investigating various federal violations of bank and access device fraud, and counterfeit currency.
In 1990, Steve moved onto the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for 29 years assigned to the Boston and Minneapolis Field Offices. During this time, Steve worked a variety of investigations to include; investigating violent crimes (bank robberies, armored car robberies, major thefts), investigation of La Cosa Nostra organized crime matters and organized crime fugitives, white-collar crime, drug-trafficking organizations (DTO’s), counterintelligence, and counterterrorism matters.
Steve supervised a squad of FBI agents and police officers conducting violent crime, fugitive, and drug trafficking investigations for over five years. Steve’s additional assignments in the FBI included; member of the Special Weapons and Tactics team (SWAT), member of the Evidence Response Team (ERT), surveillance team, and as the Media Representative in the Minneapolis office.
Steve has a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice from Michigan State University. In addition, he graduated from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, Glynco, Georgia, the U.S. Secret Service training program in Washington, D.C., and the FBI new agent training program at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia. He attended numerous training classes provided by government agencies, to include FBI and CIA, as well as private training programs, to include the Reid School of Interview and Interrogation and the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Steve has received numerous awards for investigations he led in both the Boston and Minneapolis FBI Offices.
