After the Terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, Tom Smith was asked to join the elite FBI/NYPD Joint Terrorism Task Force. For the last 17 years of his 30-year career in the NYPD, Tom investigated terrorism cases both domestically and internationally. Tom traveled to over 18 countries working with foreign security services, as well as other government agencies.  Tom held a Top-Secret/SCI clearance for classified information and was responsible for case briefings of individuals at the highest levels of our government.

  

Tom was deployed to Afghanistan when a New York Times reporter was kidnapped. Tom worked with the foreign services in Afghanistan, as well as adjoining countries, and other government agencies. As a direct result of Tom’s work, the reporter was rescued safely, and the case was successfully resolved.

Tom's career began in the New York City Police Department in 1990 and ended with his retirement in 2020. He served as Police Officer before being promoted to Detective and worked throughout Manhattan North and The Bronx. Tom investigated numerous crimes throughout his career, including; narcotics, robberies, homicides, and kidnappings.

 

Tom is currently the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of IMPACT Solutions, an alternate solution to pepper spray which acts as an extreme eye irritant. Before this, Tom brought his expertise in the areas of investigations, protection, threat assessments, surveillance, case planning, execution, report preparation and case presentation to TNR Investigations.
